Located at 36 Mulcaster Street in downtown Barrie, the Grey & Simcoe Foresters Regimental Museum is located in the recently refurbished historical gem built in 1889 as a Company Armoury and drill hall for the volunteer militia raised from the surrounding counties.

Rising from the Regiment’s early Canadian history in the Fenian Raids (1866, 1870) and the Riel Rebellion (1885), members of the Regiment have served in the South African War (1899-1902), both World Wars, Korea, the Middle East, Germany, the former Yugoslavia and in other conflicts and postings. Foresters have served in Afghanistan and are currently tasked for service in the Far North protecting Canada’s Arctic sovereignty. The Regiment’s history also includes a record of swift aid to civilians in natural disasters such as Hurricane Hazel of 1952, the Barrie Tornado of 1985, the Manitoba Floods of 1997 and the Great Ice Storm of Eastern Ontario in 1998.

The Museum offers an insight into the contribution the Grey & Simcoe Foresters Regiment has made to the development of Canada as a country and to the continuing Canadian presence in world events. Visitors can view historically significant artifacts including examples of period uniforms, medals, field gear, official recognitions and documentation, collected over the Regiment's long history.
